Downtown Raleigh IMPRINT Award (2008)

JDavis Architects has announced that Palladium Plaza condominiums have received the 2008 Downtown Raleigh Alliance Imprint Award for significantly contributing to the identity of Downtown Raleigh. Fluhrer Reed was structural engineer of record for the project. Palladium Plaza is a five-story concrete frame project that abuts the parking deck of Red Hat headquarters. The building fronts a full city block along Blount Street and turns the corner at Cabarrus Street where it ties into the City of Raleigh City Center Parking Deck. The project consists of both street-level townhomes and second-level flats. "We are honored that Palladium Plaza was recognized by the Downtown Raleigh Alliance," said Jeff Davis, president of JDavis Architects. "We work hard to contribute to the identity of Downtown Raleigh and to have that recognized is a tribute to the dedication of our staff."

Sir Walter Raleigh Award (2008)

Fluhrer Reed, structural engineer took top honors in the City of Raleigh's 26th annual Sir Walter Raleigh Awards Program. The Sir Walter Raleigh award honors projects that exhibit exemplary design, environmental stewardship, community involvement and preservation of natural features or historic resources.

Fluhrer Reed provided structural engineering services for award-winner Palladium Plaza, a five-story condominium and retail complex that spans the 400 block of South Blount Street. Owned by White Oak, the project was designed by JDavis Architects and built by Langford Construction.

The jury for the award described the project as a "great urban solution" that is warm and inviting and activates important corner of the city. "I would want to live there," said one judge. "We're delighted to have played a role in the project that has made such a significant impact on Downtown Raleigh," said Banning Reed a principal at Fluhrer Reed.
